Maintain paper and electronic records of purchase, registration, inspection, and maintenance of all vehicles and heavy equipment.
Conduct fleet evaluations to ensure maintenance standards are met and drivers are following all regulatory agencies including CHP, DOT, and OSHA.
Collect, review, and address all issues on Driver’s Vehicle Condition Reports formally known as (VCRs).
Grade existing inventory based on condition.
Responsible for yard organization and cleanliness.
Responsible for all reports on drivers and vehicle maintenance.
Forecast vehicle and equipment needs up to three years out.
Schedule and manage contractors that perform vehicle and equipment repairs.
Perform operation tests before and after repairs for verification.
Help diagnose causes of any vehicle or equipment malfunction.
Develop and monitor preventative maintenance programs.
Ensure vehicles and equipment are regularly inspected and maintained to guarantee safe operation.
Analyze and track costs and expenses related to vehicles and equipment.
Ensure quality and proactive responses to the needs of vehicles and drivers.
Ensure driver drug screening program and practices meet all federal (DOT) and state (DMV) requirements.
Ensure all drivers have proper licensure, up-to-date training, and follow all safety requirements.
Report any safety/security concerns, potential hazards, and/or incidents to RISK immediately.
Collaborate with RISK, automotive, fiscal, and other internal departments as necessary.
Read data, maintain files, prepare written reports, and report progress to the Chief Administrative Officer regarding all Fleet matters.
Establish and maintain a positive, professional, and cooperative working relationship and communicate effectively and professionally with those contacted in the course of work at all levels, including Tribal members, other Rancheria residents, internal staff, co-workers, and the public.
Perform other related duties as required.
Possess High School Diploma or GED.
Able to demonstrate experience or training in repair and preventative maintenance of fleet equipment.
Experience in maintenance, repair, and overhaul of heavy-duty automotive and truck equipment or ASE certification preferred.
Possess knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations.
Supervisory experience is desirable.
Must be able to communicate effectively with management and subordinates alike.
Must be able to interact professionally with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Must be organized, self-motivated and able to perform tasks independently or with minimal supervision.
Must possess a valid California driver’s license (Class A or B preferred) with a good MVR and comply with the requirements of the Tribe’s driving policy and insurance requirements.
