*Site Manager, Wastewater Treatment Operations* *Summary: * While wastewater experience is preferred, we are looking for a servant leader with strong communication skills, can juggle multiple tasks calmly, and has a positive, can-do attitude.
As site manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of the industrial wastewater treatment plant to ensure the safe, efficient and economical treatment of wastewater.
This position will execute the policies and assignments received from corporate management, compliance requirements defined by state & federal regulating agencies, and plant management.
To be successful, the Manager requires a high degree of independent judgment in accomplishing the work and developing continuous improvement programs.
This particular site is a 24/7 biological treatment plant that operates under a pretreatment permit and discharges to the local municipality.
Finally, this person will represent our company and interact with customer senior leadership.
Their measure of success will be how much our customer treats them like a full member of their team vice treating them as a contractor.
*Duties To Be Performed: * * Provides leadership, mentoring and supervision of the plant personnel * Oversees operation of facilities to meet all applicable regulatory requirements and in accordance with design criteria * Develops and implements techniques and methods of process control which increase plant efficiency * Prepares internal and external monthly, quarterly, and annual reports * Assists in the oversight of others contracted to work on components * Confers with corporate engineering and operations on operational problems * Conducts and/or oversees the preventive maintenance program * Oversees emergency and unscheduled work to assure appropriate follow through * Implements, directs and enforces plant safety and risk management programs for operators and contractors on site, in accordance with plant policies, procedures, or requirements * Coordinates equipment repair or replacement such that effluent quality limits are maintained * Advises on the requisition of appropriate tools, materials, equipment, and services * Reviews and comments on all plans for construction, repair, or replacement of any components * Implements training activities, as identified and/or required * Assists in preparation of budget by providing input relative to O & M fiscal needs, and * Performs other duties as assigned.
*Required Knowledge and Skills: * * Knowledge of and ability to apply policies and procedures * Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the operation, maintenance, inspection, repair, and installation of wastewater treatment plant components * Knowledge of the mechanical, biological, and chemical processes involved in the operation of a wastewater treatment plant * Knowledge of the occupational hazards in wastewater treatment plants and safety measures to be implemented * Knowledge of and ability to apply principles of sound management and budget * Ability to plan and direct the work of subordinate employees * Ability to operate and maintain equipment used in the wastewater treatment process * Ability to recognize needed repairs * Ability to perform, analyze, and interpret laboratory tests for the purpose of making operational adjustments * Ability to deal effectively with people at all levels * Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications and drawings pertaining to plant expansions and improvements, and * Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in the English language.
*Required Training and Experience * This position requires an education in WWT operations, sanitary engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in plant operations, including 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
Other combinations of experience and education, which provide the knowledge and skills required to perform the job, may be considered.
*Preferred Knowledge and Skills* * An understanding of fundamental computer skills * Previous experience using Microsoft Office for communications and reporting * Experience with biological wastewater treatment processes, to include: DAFs, aeration basins, centrifuges, and wastewater chemistry * Experience with preventative maintenance software.
*Additional Requirements * * Must be able to climb ladders, regularly lift weights up to 50 pounds, and work in a physically demanding environment, and * Must pass a pre-employment background check, and drug test.
